The far-right Unite the Kingdom rally, organised by Tommy Robinson, saw thousands of people gather in London – with counter-demonstrations also taking place

Elon Musk has been accused of using “dangerous and inflammatory” language at the Unite The Kingdom protest by Downing Street.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “The UK is a fair, tolerant and decent country. The last thing the British people want is this sort of dangerous and inflammatory language.” The spokesperson added the tech’s billionaire’s language threatened “violence and intimidation on our streets”.
Around 150,000 people were estimated to have attended the far-right rally on Saturday in London. Chief among those leading the anti-immigration protests were Tommy Robinson and Katie Hopkins, who marched in the centre of the throngs surrounded by security.

Thousands of far-right supporters have descended on London for Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom rally.
Dramatic scenes show hundreds of the controversial campaigner’s supporters gathering in the capital, with numerous Union Jacks and St George’s Crosses on display. Counter-demonstrations by more left-leaning groups are also taking place.
Volunteers clad in high-vis jackets were seen attempting to control protestors, but this didn’t prevent people from proudly displaying the British flag. Several individuals were spotted wearing suits embroidered with both the St George’s flag and the Union Jack.
The demonstrations kicked off just after midday on Saturday (September 13). However, counter-protests against the gathering have also been organised by the Stand Up to Racism charity, supported by the Hope not Hate organisation, calling for a large turnout against the original demonstration.

The massive demonstration occurred alongside criticism from the governing Labour Party, with seasoned MP Diane Abbott condemning the decision to stage the event initially. Speaking to Sky News, Diane – who delivered speech at the counter-demonstration – stated: “We need to show that we are united.
“They are talking nonsense. It is a dangerous lie to try and say that men of colour are a threat to women; it is a dangerous lie and we need to squash it.”
While the counter-demonstration made its way through London, tens of thousands of far-right extremists have persisted in voicing their opinions about Tommy. One passionate follower raged: “People who think Tommy Robinson is a fascist are thick.”
Donning a Union Jack shirt, the man declared: “This quite clearly signifies what I stand for. I try to look patriotic, but smart as well. I think it’s important to keep the flag clean.”
