BYD CEO: Announces Their Next Generation Of Blade Battery With 5 Minutes Charging

BYD CEO Announces Next-Generation Blade Battery with 5-Minute Charging

In a major leap forward for electric vehicle (EV) technology, BYD CEO Wang Chuanfu has officially announced the company’s next-generation Blade Battery, which boasts an astonishing 5-minute charging capability. The announcement was made during a high-profile tech summit in Shenzhen, drawing global attention from the EV industry, tech innovators, and environmental advocates alike.

The Blade Battery, already known for its superior safety and longevity, is getting a game-changing upgrade. BYD’s next-gen Blade Battery incorporates new materials and advanced cell structures that significantly enhance energy density and reduce internal resistance. According to Wang, the breakthrough allows the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just five minutes without compromising safety or battery lifespan.

“Fast charging is the missing link in mass EV adoption,” Wang stated. “Our next-gen Blade Battery not only solves the problem—it sets a new standard for the industry.”

This announcement positions BYD at the forefront of the global EV race, as the demand for faster, more efficient charging continues to grow. Until now, even the most advanced EV batteries required 20 to 30 minutes to reach a substantial charge. With BYD’s new technology, charging an EV could become as quick and convenient as a fuel stop at a traditional gas station.

Industry experts suggest this advancement could dramatically reduce range anxiety and increase the appeal of electric vehicles in markets previously hesitant to embrace them. The new Blade Battery is also expected to be more environmentally friendly, with a design that reduces the need for rare earth materials and simplifies recycling at the end of the battery’s life cycle.

BYD has not yet revealed which models will first receive the upgraded battery, but hints suggest it may debut in the next generation of the popular Han or Seal series. Mass production is anticipated to begin in 2026, with initial testing already underway in select prototype vehicles.

With this bold move, BYD is not only pushing the boundaries of what EVs can achieve but also strengthening its position as one of the leading innovators in sustainable transportation. The world now waits to see how competitors respond to what could be a defining moment in the future of electric mobility.
